Ethene
Ethene, formerly known as ethylene, is an important molecule in organic chemistry. It is a colourless and odourless gas composed of two carbon atoms and four hydrogen atoms, with the chemical formula C₂H₄.
Ethene is a naturally occurring plant hormone that plays a crucial role in fruit ripening and plant growth. It stimulates fruit to ripen and promotes flowering and root development in plants. In addition, ethene is also widely used in the chemical industry. It is an important raw material for the production of various chemicals, including polyethylene, a widely used plastic.
For effective measurement and adjustment of ethene, we offer two different solutions. First, a low-range measurement system for ethene, 0 to 5 ppm. This system is widely used during tomato ripening in a greenhouse. In addition, we provide custom-made measuring systems for a range from 0 to approximately 1500 ppm, for ripening bananas, kiwis, mangoes or other fruits in ripening rooms.
Our analyser with multi-sampler, or our separate sensors are perfect for monitoring and adjusting ethene in ripening chambers.
